Guitar Repair in Glens Falls, NY
Guitar repair, fret work, electronics, structural repair, and setups at Paul's Guitar Hideout in downtown Glens Falls. Drop off during shop hours — no appointment.
Where We Are
We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 19th century textile mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If you need assistance, give us a call and we'll come down.
A Local Repair Bench for a Growing Scene
The Shirt Factory anchors the arts district in downtown Glens Falls, and the city around it has been changing fast: more restaurants, more galleries, more weekend foot traffic on Glen and Warren. Every growing scene needs a repair bench in it, and we're here to be that for Glens Falls. Full-service: fret work, electronics, structural repair, setups, five days a week. Locals walk repairs in the same way they walk in setups. Drop off mid-errand, pick up later in the week, no destination trip required. The shop is in the orbit of the rest of your day.
Setups
Standard setup is $79. Specialty (Floyd Rose, 12-string, classical) is $99. A setup covers truss rod, action at the nut and saddle, intonation, and fresh strings. More: what a setup includes and why it matters.
Turnaround depends on what's already in the queue. We tell you the real timing at drop-off and turn each one as soon as we can.
Repairs
Fret leveling and dressing, refrets, nut and saddle work, tuner replacement, electronics (pickup swaps, wiring, pot and jack replacement), bridge reglue on acoustics, crack repair.
We diagnose with you present, explain what we see, give you a number before any work starts. If we find something during the work that changes the scope, you hear about it before we keep going.

What the Bench Sees from Glens Falls Residents
A lot of repair work coming off the bench from in-town players is environmental. Upstate winters pull indoor humidity hard, and the older housing stock around downtown Glens Falls runs especially dry through January and February. Acoustics show it first: fret ends you can feel, tops drying, bridges starting to lift. Most of it is fixable with a setup if it's caught early; the longer it sits unaddressed, the more likely something structural follows. Background on the cycle: why Upstate NY is harder on guitars than most players realize.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an appointment to drop off a repair?
A: No. Drop off during shop hours, we'll look at the guitar with you and give you a number before any work starts.
Q: How much is a setup?
A: $79 standard, $99 specialty (Floyd Rose, 12-string, classical).
Q: Can you fix an old guitar that's been sitting for years?
A: Sometimes. We diagnose at drop-off and tell you whether it's a clean repair, a bigger job, or not worth the work before anything starts.
Q: My acoustic developed a crack over the winter. Can you fix it?
A: Bring it in. Humidity cracks on acoustics are something we see every spring. We'll assess it and tell you whether it's a clean fix or a bigger job before anything is decided.
Q: Do you guys buy guitars?
A: Reach out via call or text at (518) 217-8695 to discuss what you have. If it's not right for the shop, we can help direct you in how to sell it elsewhere.
