Why Buy Fishman From an Authorized Dealer

Fishman warrants a new product to the original buyer against defects in materials and workmanship, and in the U.S. that covers parts and labor for one year from the date of purchase. Keep the receipt: Fishman asks for proof of purchase at a warranty claim, and registering is optional. Warranty repairs go to Fishman's own factory, so a claim starts with a return authorization from Fishman, and we'll help you sort out whether a return, exchange or warranty claim makes sense. Fishman's warranty page also says a product damaged by mishandling isn't covered and a modification typically voids the warranty, that there's a $50 fee plus shipping if a returned product turns out to have no defect, and that after the first year the repair and the return shipping are on the owner. Which Loudbox

Three sizes, and the room decides. The Loudbox Micro is 40 watts, bi-amplified, a 5.25-inch woofer and a soft dome tweeter in a sealed cabinet, 9.1 pounds, with an instrument channel and a microphone channel, reverb and chorus, a headphone output and a balanced XLR out. It's the practice and recording amp. The Loudbox Mini is 60 watts with a master volume, a 6.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, 21 pounds, an instrument channel with a three-band EQ and a microphone channel with a two-band EQ, Bluetooth 5.1 and two aux inputs. It's the coffeehouse and rehearsal amp. The Loudbox Artist is 120 watts, an 8-inch woofer and a 1-inch neodymium tweeter, 113 dB at one meter, 25 pounds, two complete channels, each with a mic input, an instrument input, a three-band EQ and dual effects, and Bluetooth 5.1. It's the full-band stage amp, and the one that takes the dual footswitch.

The Preamps

The Platinum Pro EQ is the box between an acoustic pickup and a PA: a 17-volt discrete Class A preamp, a five-band EQ with a sweepable mid and an adjustable low cut, a bass voicing, a one-knob compressor, a sweepable notch filter and a phase switch for feedback, a tuner, and a balanced XLR D.I. out, on a 9-volt battery for about 30 hours or Fishman's 910R adapter. The AFX Pro EQ Mini is the preamp and EQ half of that in a 1.9-inch-wide aluminum box: four bands, bass, mid, treble and brilliance, a sweepable low cut, a polarity flip when you hold the footswitch, and true bypass or a buffered option. Going straight into a board, the Platinum Pro's D.I. is the deciding feature.

The Neo-D

The Neo-D Humbucking is the no-drill pickup: it clamps into a soundhole as small as 3-7/8 inches, plugs straight in, and runs passive with no battery, on the same neodymium magnet structure as Fishman's Rare Earth pickup. A magnetic pickup hears the strings, not the body, so it sounds closer to an electric than an under-saddle piezo does.

Pickup Installs

The Neo-D clamps into the soundhole, plugs in and needs no battery, so there's nothing to install. An under-saddle Fishman system with an endpin jack is an install job, and we quote it once we've seen the guitar. Try It Before You Buy It

Bring your guitar. Plug it into the Micro, the Mini and the Artist one after the other, at the volume you actually play at, and pick the one that sounds like the guitar. The same goes for the preamps: put the Platinum Pro and the AFX Pro EQ Mini in line with your pickup and listen to what the low cut does to body thump.

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. Glens Falls is a bustling little city that's growing more and more every day: lots of culture, food and natural beauty. The Shirt Factory is the heart of the East End arts district.

We're downtown. Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory and take the Cooper Street entrance up to the second floor. If you're already downtown, we're about a ten-minute walk from Glen Street.
