We do guitar repair at Paul's Guitar Hideout in Glens Falls, everything from a loose tuner to a cracked headstock. Players bring instruments in from across the Capital Region: Glens Falls, Queensbury, Lake George, Saratoga Springs, Warren and Washington counties, and the Adirondacks.

Every repair starts the same way: we look at it, tell you what it needs, and give you the option before anything is done. No surprises on the bill.

What We Repair

If your guitar needs work, bring it in. We'll look at it, tell you what's going on, and give you a straight answer on what it needs before anything is touched. Call ahead or stop in during shop hours.

Fret work is the most common thing on the bench. If your guitar has dead spots, fret ends that catch your hand, or uneven wear up the neck, that's where it starts. A fret level is not the same as a setup — if you're not sure which one you need, see What's the Difference Between a Guitar Setup and a Guitar Repair?

Nut work and tuner replacement come up regularly. A nut cut too high makes the guitar hard to play in first position. A nut cut too low causes open string buzz. Tuners that slip or strip get replaced.

Electronics take time to diagnose. If your guitar cuts out or crackles, bring it in and we'll work through it.

Structural repairs are assessed case by case. Bring it in and we'll tell you what's involved before anything is touched.

Most repairs finish with a setup. If the instrument is going back together, it should play correctly when it does.

What We Don't Do

We don't do finish restoration, full refinishes, or extensive cosmetic work. If a repair is outside our scope, we'll tell you and point you in the right direction.

How Repair Pricing Works

We don't quote blind. Bring the instrument in, we'll look at it and give you a number before anything is touched. Everything is à la carte and approved before we start. If we find additional issues during the repair, you'll hear about it before we proceed.

Turnaround

Simple jobs like output jack replacement, tuner swaps, and basic electronics are often same-day or next-day. Fret work and structural repairs take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when you bring it in.

The Repair Vault

We document repairs as they come off the bench: real instruments, real problems, real fixes. Browse the Repair Vault to see the kind of work we do and how we approach it.
