Guitar Repair & Setups Near Queensbury, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is ten minutes south of Queensbury on Route 9, inside The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. Setups, fret work, electronics, structural repairs, with the price given before anything starts. No appointment needed to drop off. The bench's work is documented publicly in the Repair Vault: real repairs, what came in, what we found, what we did. Setups are $79 standard, $109 deluxe and $99 specialty, strings extra; a full fret level is $299, a bone nut or saddle $179, and electronics diagnosis $69 an hour.

Queensbury wraps around Glens Falls on three sides, so for most of it we're closer than the mall. Route 9 at the Aviation Road light, past the mall, and you're at the Shirt Factory in about ten minutes.

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Queensbury is a suburb of Glens Falls and one of the last bastions of commerce and population before the Adirondacks.

Setups

Standard setup is $79. Deluxe is $109 and is the one we usually recommend; it also cleans and conditions the fretboard and tightens and lubricates all the hardware. Specialty (Floyd Rose, 12-string, classical) is $99. A setup covers truss rod, action at the nut and saddle, intonation, and a restring (strings extra). Repairs

Fret leveling and dressing, refrets, nut and saddle work, tuner replacement, electronics (pickup swaps, wiring, pot and jack replacement), bridge reglue on acoustics, crack repair. We diagnose with you present, explain what we see, give you a number before anything starts. If we find something during the work that changes the scope, you hear about it before we keep going.

Humidity in Winter

Indoor heat in January and February pulls humidity hard in most Queensbury homes. Acoustics show it first, electrics catch up by spring. Most of what comes in is fixable with a setup, but the longer it sits unaddressed the more likely something structural follows.
