How Much Does a Guitar Setup Cost?

A standard guitar setup at Paul's Guitar Hideout in Glens Falls, NY is $79.

Floyd Rose, 12-string and classical (tie-end strings) setups are $99. Strings are extra on every setup.

The deluxe setup, which is the one we usually recommend, is $109. It covers everything in the standard setup plus headstock-to-strap-button detailing, all hardware tightened and lubricated, and the fretboard cleaned and conditioned.

If something comes up during the setup that changes the scope, we stop and tell you before anything is done.

What's included

A guitar setup covers action adjustment, neck relief, nut slot cleaning and lubrication, intonation, and a full check of the instrument. Everything that affects how the guitar plays, feels, and stays in tune.

There's more on what each adjustment does in What Does a Guitar Setup Actually Do?

Other instruments and restrings

Mandolin and banjo setups are $99. Lap steel and resonator setups are $79. Every setup includes nut-slot filing when it's needed, and any setup can be upgraded to the deluxe for $30.

A restring is $25 for a guitar or bass, $35 for a 12-string or mandolin, and $40 for a classical or a locking tremolo, plus strings. The full list is on our repair and setup pricing page.
