Look magazine called Glens Falls "Hometown U.S.A." back in 1944, and the downtown still runs on that: a walkable main street, the Hyde, Harding Mazzotti Arena, and now a guitar shop on the second floor of the old shirt mill on Lawrence Street. How Our Used Guitars Are Described

Every used listing names the guitar, states a condition grade and says what it comes with. The grade sits next to each guitar in the list under On the Wall Now, and the listing says whether a case comes with it. When a title carries a year, the listing says how it was dated, usually from the serial number and the maker's own serial scheme. Used gear is sold in the condition described and photographed. We make a point of showing and disclosing significant wear, modifications, and prior repairs when we know about them. Small scratches, nicks, finish marks, case wear, and other minor signs of use may not always show clearly in photographs. Used cases are used too.

How We Choose Used Guitars

Every guitar is evaluated for playability and condition before it goes on the floor.

When a guitar comes in we check neck relief, fret wear, nut condition, tuner function, and intonation. Electronics get tested on electrics. Acoustics get checked for structural issues: cracks, bridge lift, neck angle. If it needs work before it goes on the floor, it gets the work. If it's not worth the work, it doesn't come in.

If it doesn't play well, it doesn't stay.

If you have a guitar you want to sell or trade, call or text first at (518) 217-8695, or bring it in during shop hours. We'll usually have a number for you before you leave. Cash offers run about 50 percent of real market value, based on what instruments actually sell for on Reverb, and offers hold for 7 days. If you're trading a guitar toward something here, we evaluate it in person and apply credit toward the new purchase. Store credit runs higher than the cash number, worked out case by case, and trade value can be applied toward anything in the shop, new or used. Accepted deals are paid by check the same day, or generally cash the next day. We buy guitars and basses in playable or repairable condition: Fender, Martin, Gibson and most major brands. Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. The easiest place to park is the Cooper Street lot.

A: Yes. Call or text within 3 days of purchase or delivery, before you bring or send it back. Used and vintage returns carry a 10% restocking fee, and return shipping is the customer's responsibility. If the instrument comes back with additional wear, changes, damage, missing parts, or in a condition materially different from how it left the shop, the restocking fee may increase to up to 25%, or the return may be declined. Q: Does a used guitar come with the maker's warranty?
A: Fender's and Martin's warranties cover the original buyer only, so a used Fender or Martin, including one from our wall, doesn't carry the maker's warranty. Used gear of any brand falls under our return policy for used and vintage gear.

Q: Do you take trade-ins toward a used guitar?
A: Yes. We evaluate it in person and apply credit toward the new purchase. Store credit runs higher than the cash number, worked out case by case, and trade value can be applied toward anything in the shop, new or used.

A: Yes, within the U.S., at flat rates: guitars and basses ship for $79, $99 on orders of $2,000 to $2,999, or $119 on orders of $3,000 and up.
