Where We Are
We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 19th century textile mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If you need assistance, give us a call and we'll come down.
The Mountain Climate Problem
Adirondack winters are among the harshest in the Northeast. Temperatures below zero for weeks. Heated indoor air at low humidity for months. The damage this does to an unhumidified acoustic guitar is not theoretical — we see it every spring. Cracked tops, lifted bridges, sharp fret ends, separated binding, neck movement beyond what a truss rod can correct. Full background: the Adirondack guitar player's seasonal maintenance checklist.
Martins, being finely built, show this damage first and worst. If you're buying a Martin to keep in the Adirondacks year-round, humidity management is not a suggestion. It's the terms of owning the guitar. Case humidifier. Hygrometer. Check weekly in winter. Store in the case. Setups twice a year. With this routine a Martin lasts generations. Without it, the guitar becomes an expensive problem within a decade. Mechanism: how humidity affects your guitar.
What We Stock
We regularly stock Standard Series Martins: D-18, D-28, 000-28, OM-28. 15 Series and 17 Series mahogany guitars come through regularly. Road Series for approachable price points. Inventory rotates. Call first if you're making the drive for something specific.
Authorized Dealer
Authorized Martin dealer.
Used Martins
Worth considering for Adirondack buyers facing a long-drive purchase. A well-cared-for used Martin at used pricing can be the smarter buy, particularly if you're putting the guitar through Adirondack conditions. The full Martin collection includes both new and used.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is there a Martin dealer in the Adirondacks?
A: We're at the southern gateway in Glens Falls, the closest authorized Martin dealer for most Adirondack residents.
Q: How far is the drive from Lake Placid or Saranac Lake?
A: 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on starting point.
Q: Should I buy a Martin if my cabin isn't heated year-round?
A: Maybe not. An unheated or intermittently heated cabin is the hardest environment to protect an acoustic in. Have the conversation with us before buying. Better to find out at intake than three winters later.
Q: Do you do Martin warranty service for customers in the Park?
A: Yes, as the authorized dealer. Bring it in.
From the southern gateway of the Park. Bring the guitar in before you commit to mountain duty.
