Guitar Cables in the Adirondacks

Guitar cables in the Adirondacks: Paul's Guitar Hideout is in Glens Falls, in the Adirondack foothills. Nearly forty cables from Ernie Ball, Fender, MXR, Pig Hog, and Strukture, $8.99 to $59.99, in a range of lengths.

Glens Falls has called itself the Gateway to the Adirondacks for a century, and it still is: Exit 18 is the last real town before the park. Anyone coming down 87 from Schroon Lake, Chestertown, or North Creek passes us on the way to anything else.

The Drive

The Adirondacks start at the top of Queensbury: six million acres, the largest park in the contiguous United States, a hundred-odd towns and villages inside it, and Glens Falls is the city in the foothills at the bottom.

From Lake George about 10 minutes, Warrensburg about 20, Bolton Landing about 30, Chestertown about 30. I-87 Exit 18, then the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory.

From the Wall: MXR DCSTHD6

Heavy-duty unshielded speaker cable. Length 6 ft. Connectors: 1/4" TS, both ends. We carry the MXR DCSTHD6 - Heavy Duty Speaker Cable, 6 ft at $41.99.

Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Cables We Stock

The front room at Paul's Guitar Hideout in Glens Falls, NY: strings, cables and picks on the slatwall, pedals in the glass counter, and a leather couch under framed band posters

Ernie Ball, Fender, MXR, Pig Hog, and Strukture, from short patch lengths up to long stage runs, including coiled cables. A cable is the least expensive thing that fixes a crackling rig, so it's the first thing to swap.

When It's Not the Cable

If a new cable doesn't kill the crackle, the output jack usually will. Loose jacks are a repair we do constantly, and a quick one. Bring the guitar in and we'll check it. More on guitar repair.
