Ukuleles In the Adirondacks

Ukuleles in the Adirondacks: Paul's Guitar Hideout is in Glens Falls. As of November 6, 2026, 9 Fender ukuleles are on the wall, starting at $115.99. The wall also has D'Addario Nyltech string sets for every size.

Glens Falls has called itself the Gateway to the Adirondacks for a century, and it still is: Exit 18 is the last real town before the park. Anyone coming down 87 from Schroon Lake, Chestertown, or North Creek passes us on the way to anything else.

The Drive

From Lake George about 10 minutes, Warrensburg about 20, Bolton Landing about 30, Chestertown about 30. I-87 Exit 18, then the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory.

From the Wall: The Zuma Exotic concert

Bocote is the wood you notice first on the Zuma Exotic: a concert body, bone nut, walnut pull-through bridge and sealed nickel tuners. Next to it, the Venice soprano runs a 13.6-inch scale, 1.4 inches shorter. We carry the Fender Zuma Exotic Concert Ukulele ($229.99).

Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

The Adirondacks start at the top of Queensbury: six million acres, the largest park in the contiguous United States, a hundred-odd towns and villages inside it, and Glens Falls is the city in the foothills at the bottom.

Ukuleles We Stock

Inside Paul's Guitar Hideout in Glens Falls, NY: acoustic guitars on the upper rows, electric guitars and basses below, and amps along the floor

All of them are Fender, and they cover the three sizes most players want: soprano, concert, and tenor. The Venice soprano is the smallest and the least expensive at $115.99. The Avalon tenor has the longest scale and the most room between frets, which suits anyone coming over from guitar. The Zuma concert sits between them. The Fullerton Tele and Jazzmaster are concert-scale ukuleles built to look like their electric namesakes, and they have a pickup so they can be plugged in.

Prices start at $115.99. Every one on the wall is there to play before you buy.

Which Size to Start On

Soprano is the traditional size and the sound most people picture when they hear the word ukulele. Concert is bigger with more space between frets. Tenor is bigger again, and it is the size we point guitar players toward, because the neck feels less cramped to a hand used to six strings.

For a child, soprano. For an adult starting fresh, concert. For a guitar player adding one, tenor.

Strings and Restrings

D'Addario Nyltech sets on the wall for soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone, $8.99 to $9.99. If you would rather not do the job yourself, a ukulele restring is $25 plus strings. Full pricing is on the repair and setup pricing page.
