9N down the west side of the lake to the village, then 87 south, about thirty minutes. Bolton is a summer town, and a guitar left in an unheated lake house over the winter comes out in spring with sharp fret ends and a dry top. Bring it down before it goes back up.
Where We Are
We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.
What's on the Wall
We regularly stock Standard Series Martins: D-18, D-28, 000-18, OM-28. Road Series models when the budget is tighter. Occasional 15 Series all-mahogany guitars with a warmer, drier voice. If you're driving over for a specific model, call first. If it's not on the floor, we can usually order it.
Body Size
The biggest choice in a Martin purchase is body size, and it's the one a spec sheet can't decide for you. A dreadnought projects hard. A 000 is tighter and fingerstyle-friendly. An OM has the 000 body with a longer scale length. You figure out which fits you by playing them back to back. Plan an hour if you're seriously comparing.
Humidity
