Guitar Lessons Near Bolton Landing, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is about 30 minutes south of Bolton Landing, in Glens Falls. One-on-one guitar lessons with Travis Gray of Wild Adriatic, taught in person at the shop. Beginners, kids, and players coming back to it.

9N down the west side of the lake to the village, then 87 south, about thirty minutes. Bolton is a summer town, and a guitar left in an unheated lake house over the winter comes out in spring with sharp fret ends and a dry top. Bring it down before it goes back up.

Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Who's Teaching

Travis Gray of Wild Adriatic fame teaches here. Reach out through the contact page to book. Full background on his instructor page.

How Lessons Work

Travis listens to what you want and builds a plan for it. He'll work on the songs you actually want to play, the foundation underneath them, technique, riffs, songwriting, getting ready to perform — whatever the goal is. The first session is about where you're starting and where you want to go.

Younger Beginners

For a younger beginner: we offer 3/4-size electrics and smaller-body acoustics that fit hands and arms still growing into a full-size guitar. A full-size guitar can also be appropriate depending on the player — bringing the beginner in is the best way to figure out which way to go.

Before the First Lesson

If you need a guitar, new and used inventory is worth browsing while you're up. A $79 setup on your existing guitar is often worth doing on the same trip, because a guitar that fights you slows the learning down. Service is first come, first served. Need it back by a certain date? Let us know at drop-off and we'll do our best to accommodate. More on the first steps: how to choose your first guitar.

The Drive

About 30 minutes: 9N down the lake to Lake George village, then Route 9 or I-87 south to Glens Falls. Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory.
