Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Saratoga is the big neighbor to the south: the track, SPAC and Broadway, a resort city for two hundred years and still growing, with the Northway running right alongside it.

The Vintera III Precision Bass

The Vintera III Precision Bass is Fender's vintage-spec P: an alder body, a maple neck with a 7.25-inch radius and vintage-tall frets, and a vintage-style split-coil pickup for the warm, woody thump. The full list is under basses in stock. Want every Fender line we carry, with prices? That's on our Fender guitars in Glens Falls page.

What's on the Wall

Inside Paul's Guitar Hideout in Glens Falls, NY: acoustic guitars on the upper rows, electric guitars and basses below, and amps along the floor

On the wall as of November 6, 2026: 8 new basses, Fender and Squier, from $259.99 to $1,499.99. On the Fender side, two Vintera III basses (an Early '70s Jazz Bass and a Late '60s Precision Bass) and a Standard Precision Bass. The Squier tier runs Affinity Precision Bass (a PJ, so both pickup voices in one instrument) and Sonic Precision Bass, and the Sonic Bronco Bass, a 30-inch short-scale that suits smaller hands and guitar players moving over. There's also a Fender CB-60SCE acoustic bass for playing without an amp.

For amps we carry the Fender Rumble line: the Rumble 15 for practice, the Rumble 40 for rehearsal and small rooms, and the Rumble Studio 40 with built-in amp modeling. Bass strings from D'Addario and Ernie Ball in long and short scale, four- and five-string sets, roundwound and Chromes flatwound, and Fender padded gig bags in two sizes.

Used basses come through on trade-in and consignment, so our used gear is worth checking. Inventory rotates weekly.

Precision or Jazz

The two Fender shapes are different instruments. A Precision has one split pickup and a wider neck at the nut; the sound is thick and sits under a band without any work. A Jazz Bass has two single-coils and a narrower neck, brighter and more articulate, with more tone shaping from the two volume knobs. Most players who are unsure end up on a Precision. The Squier Affinity PJ splits the difference for a first bass: a P pickup at the neck and a J pickup at the bridge.

Short Scale

Standard Fender basses are 34-inch scale. The Sonic Bronco is 30-inch, which means a shorter reach between frets and lower string tension. It's the bass we point guitar players to when they're picking up a second instrument, and it's the one most kids under about twelve can actually play.

Trade-In

If you have an older bass or guitar to put toward a new one, bring it in. We evaluate it in person and apply credit toward the new purchase. See the trade page.

Setup

New basses come set to the manufacturer's factory spec, and bass necks move more than guitar necks with the seasons here. If you want a full $79 setup to your preferences before taking the bass home, we can do that. Bass restrings are on the pricing page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a Fender bass dealer near Saratoga Springs?
A: Yes. Paul's Guitar Hideout in Glens Falls, about 30 minutes north on I-87, is an authorized Fender dealer stocking Vintera III, Standard, and Squier basses.

Q: How much does a new Fender or Squier bass cost?
A: New in September 2026: Squier Sonic basses $259.99 to $269.99, Squier Affinity Precision Bass PJ $369.99, Fender Standard Precision Bass $679.99, Vintera III basses $1,249.99 to $1,499.99. Current prices are on the bass guitars page.

Q: Does a new bass from here come with Fender's warranty?
A: Yes. Fender's two-year limited warranty covers the original buyer when the bass comes from an authorized Fender dealer. Keep the receipt.

Q: Do you have short-scale basses?
A: Yes. The Squier Sonic Bronco Bass is a 30-inch short-scale, and we carry short-scale string sets for it.

Q: Do you sell bass amps?
A: Yes. Fender Rumble 15, Rumble 40, and Rumble Studio 40 are on the floor, and you can play any bass through them before you buy.

Q: Can I order a Fender bass you don't have?
A: If it's currently in Fender's production lineup, yes. When Fender has it available, it usually arrives in 1–2 weeks. Call or text with the model.

Q: Do you ship basses?
A: Yes, for $79, or $99 on orders of $2,000 to $2,999. Pickup at the shop is free.

Q: Can I play one before I buy?
A: Yes. Call or text (518) 217-8695 and we'll hold it for you.

Q: Which Rumble should I buy first?
A: Be realistic about the loudest room you will play in the next year. Practicing alone, the 15 is plenty and saves money for the bass itself. Jamming with anyone, start at the 40. Nobody has ever complained about the extra headroom.

More for Saratoga Springs

All the areas we serve

Amp size matters more for bass than guitar. The Fender Rumble 15 covers bedroom practice. The Rumble 40 is the smallest amp we would bring to a rehearsal with a drummer, and the Rumble Studio 40 adds amp models and Bluetooth for playing along.

For the jam and funk end of things, the Vintera III Jazz Bass earns its spot: the slim Jazz neck moves fast, and the two-pickup layout covers everything from bridge-pickup burp to full neck warmth without touching a pedal.
