From the Wall: The RE-2 Space Echo

The RE-2 is the Roland RE-201 tape echo of 1974 in a compact pedal, built by the company that made the original, and the sound is the tape: repeats that soften and wobble, with a wow and flutter knob for how much. The eleven mode positions are the original head selections, so the rhythmic multi-head echoes are here rather than a single delay line, and the spring reverb is the RE-201's, with stereo added. A carryover switch lets the echoes ring out on bypass, and a TRS jack takes tap tempo or an expression pedal.

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. Saratoga is the big neighbor to the south: the track, SPAC and Broadway, a resort city for two hundred years and still growing, with the Northway running right alongside it.
