From the Wall: The SD-1

The SD-1 is the 1981 overdrive that still ships on the same circuit, and asymmetrical clipping is why it sounds like a driven tube amp rather than a fuzz: rich in even-order harmonics, and it follows the pick. It's a mild-to-moderate drive with a focused midrange and a tight low end, used as often to tighten a high-gain amp as to push a clean one, built on the 1977 OD-1's clipping circuit with an added tone control. Drive, tone and level, 10 mA.

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

The Drive

Hudson Falls is right next door to the east, over the line in Washington County: a village with a green in the middle of its business district and the Feeder Canal trail running through it. Fort Edward is down Route 4 from there, the county seat, where the Champlain Canal comes into the Hudson and the train still stops.
