Guitar Setup Near Hudson Falls and Fort Edward, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is five to ten minutes from Hudson Falls and Fort Edward, in Glens Falls. $79 standard, $109 deluxe, $99 specialty (Floyd Rose, 12-string, classical). Drop off during shop hours, no appointment. Our repair work is documented publicly in the Repair Vault.

Route 4 to Route 32 into downtown, five to ten minutes. Closest towns to the shop after Glens Falls itself.

The Drive

Hudson Falls is right next door to the east, over the line in Washington County: a village with a green in the middle of its business district and the Feeder Canal trail running through it. Fort Edward is down Route 4 from there, the county seat, where the Champlain Canal comes into the Hudson and the train still stops.

Route 4 to Route 32 into downtown, five to ten minutes. Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory. Drop-off takes a few minutes. We look at the guitar with you and confirm standard or specialty.

What came in: A red Ibanez hollowbody. What we found: Going to 10s meant the truss rod, bridge height and intonation all needed adjusting, and the guitar needed a cleanup. What we did: Changed the strings from 9s to 10s. Result: The pickups sound great and it plays smooth, in Dave's words. Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

What a Setup Includes

Truss rod to correct relief. Nut slots checked and filed if high. Saddle action dialed to your preference. Intonation verified at the 12th fret. Fresh strings installed (strings are extra). For more on what a setup covers and why, read what a guitar setup includes and why it matters.

Service is first come, first served. Need it back by a certain date? Let us know at drop-off and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Standard, Deluxe, or Specialty

Standard, $79: Most electrics, most acoustics, most basses. Full setup; strings are extra.

Deluxe, $109: Everything in the standard plus headstock-to-strap-button detailing, all hardware tightened and lubricated, and the fretboard cleaned and conditioned. The one we usually recommend.

Specialty, $99: Floyd Rose and other double-locking tremolos, 12-strings, classicals. The extra covers the additional setup time these instruments need.
