Guitar Repair Near Hudson Falls and Fort Edward, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is five to ten minutes from Hudson Falls and Fort Edward. Setups, fret work, electronics, structural repairs. Drop off during shop hours, no appointment needed. The Drive

Hudson Falls is right next door to the east, over the line in Washington County: a village with a green in the middle of its business district and the Feeder Canal trail running through it. Fort Edward is down Route 4 from there, the county seat, where the Champlain Canal comes into the Hudson and the train still stops.

What came in: A red Fender USA Telecaster from the E-series years, with a new owner who wanted two things: confirm the pickups and electronics were original, and get the guitar set up. What we found: The pickups and electronics were original. What we did: Checked the electronics, then set the guitar up. Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Setups

A standard setup is $79: truss rod, action at the nut and saddle, intonation, and a restring (strings extra). Deluxe is $109 and is the one we usually recommend; it also cleans and conditions the fretboard and tightens and lubricates all the hardware. Specialty setups are $99: Floyd Rose, twelve-string, classical. A setup isn't a repair and it isn't just a cleaning: it's a calibration. If your guitar feels harder to play than it used to, or buzzes where it didn't, or won't stay in tune no matter what strings you put on it, that's a setup question, not a repair question. Repair Work

Fret leveling and dressing, refrets, nut and saddle work, tuner replacement, pickup installation, pot and jack replacement, wiring repairs, bridge reglues, crack repair. We look at the guitar with you, tell you what it actually needs, and give you a flat number before anything starts. If something shifts mid-repair, you hear about it before we keep going.
