From the Wall: The Quarter Pound Strat Set

The Quarter Pound Strat set has more than twice the output of a standard Strat single-coil, which moves the sound toward a P-90: fat, punchy, big chords, single notes that jump. Clean at low volume, and it drives an amp hard when turned up. Neck, middle and bridge, calibrated, on hand-polished quarter-inch alnico 5 rod magnets, wax potted. The middle pickup is reverse-wound and reverse-polarity, so positions 2 and 4 cancel hum, and the modern oval flatwork drops into a standard Strat pickguard.

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

The Drive

Hudson Falls is right next door to the east, over the line in Washington County: a village with a green in the middle of its business district and the Feeder Canal trail running through it. Fort Edward is down Route 4 from there, the county seat, where the Champlain Canal comes into the Hudson and the train still stops.
