The Antiquity is the Custom Shop's take on a well-worn 1950s P.A.F., aged both cosmetically and magnetically: the magnet is weakened the way decades of playing would weaken it, and the covers and hardware look the part. No potting means it sits right at the edge of harmonic breakup.
Neck and bridge, custom-aged alnico 2 bar magnets, 42 AWG plain enamel wire, nickel silver covers and bottom plates with long mounting legs, butyrate bobbins from the original P.A.F. mold, single-conductor push-back braided lead wire, passive. The neck is mellow and articulate with a soft treble attack over a full low end; the bridge is wound a little hotter for balance, with the open, airy top the early humbuckers had.
Nickel, aged. New from Seymour Duncan. Comes as the matched neck and bridge set.
