Guitar Setup Near Washington County, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is just across the Hudson from Washington County, in Glens Falls. $79 standard, $109 deluxe, $99 specialty (Floyd Rose, 12-string, classical). Drop off during shop hours, no appointment. Our repair work is documented publicly in the Repair Vault.

The county line is the Hudson. Cross at Fort Edward or Hudson Falls and you're in Glens Falls in ten minutes; from Greenwich or Cambridge it's closer to thirty.

The Drive

Washington County is the farm county next door to the east, long and narrow, running down the Vermont line from Lake Champlain to the Batten Kill, with the county seat in Fort Edward.

Cross the river from Hudson Falls or Fort Edward and you're here in about ten minutes. Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory. Drop-off takes a few minutes. We look at the guitar with you and confirm standard or specialty.

What came in: A Japanese Fender Stratocaster with a blue-green burst over a flame top and a maple neck, in for a setup. What we found: The intonation was off and the saddle heights were out. What we did: Adjusted the saddle heights and the intonation. Result: Intonated, with no issues left in the electronics. Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

What a Setup Includes

Truss rod to correct relief. Nut slots checked and filed if high. Saddle action dialed to your preference. Intonation verified at the 12th fret. Fresh strings installed (strings are extra). For more on what a setup covers and why, read what a guitar setup includes and why it matters.

Service is first come, first served. Need it back by a certain date? Let us know at drop-off and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Standard, Deluxe, or Specialty

Standard, $79: Most electrics, most acoustics, most basses. Full setup; strings are extra.

Deluxe, $109: Everything in the standard plus headstock-to-strap-button detailing, all hardware tightened and lubricated, and the fretboard cleaned and conditioned. The one we usually recommend.

Specialty, $99: Floyd Rose and other double-locking tremolos, 12-strings, classicals. The extra covers the additional setup time these instruments need.
