Guitar Lessons Near Washington County, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is just across the county line in Glens Falls. In-person one-on-one lessons with Travis Gray of Wild Adriatic. He teaches beginners of all ages one-on-one at the shop. The county line is the Hudson. Cross at Fort Edward or Hudson Falls and you're in Glens Falls in ten minutes; from Greenwich or Cambridge it's closer to thirty.

Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Washington County is the farm county next door to the east, long and narrow, running down the Vermont line from Lake Champlain to the Batten Kill, with the county seat in Fort Edward.

How Lessons Work

Travis listens to what you want and builds a plan for it. He'll work on the songs you actually want to play, the foundation underneath them, technique, riffs, songwriting, or getting ready to perform, whatever the goal is. The first session is about where you're starting and where you want to go.

Before the First Lesson

If you need a guitar, we have new and used across a range of prices, including new Fender and Martin as an authorized dealer. A $79 setup before the first lesson makes a real difference. High action is the single biggest reason beginners think they can't learn, and it's almost always fixable.

Theory With a Purpose

Technique, rhythm, chords, theory, phrasing, and ear training all have a place. The difference is that they're connected to something you're actually trying to do. You're not learning something just because it happens to be next in a book.
