Guitar Repair Near Washington County, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is just across the county line in Glens Falls. Setups, fret work, electronics, structural repairs. No appointment needed. The bench's work is documented publicly in the Repair Vault: real repairs, what came in, what we found, what we did. Setups are $79 standard, $109 deluxe and $99 specialty, strings extra; a full fret level is $299, a bone nut or saddle $179, and electronics diagnosis $69 an hour.

The county line is the Hudson. Cross at Fort Edward or Hudson Falls and you're in Glens Falls in ten minutes; from Greenwich or Cambridge it's closer to thirty.

The Drive

Washington County is the farm county next door to the east, long and narrow, running down the Vermont line from Lake Champlain to the Batten Kill, with the county seat in Fort Edward.

From Hudson Falls: five minutes. Fort Edward: ten. Greenwich: thirty. Cambridge: thirty. Granville or Whitehall: about forty.

What came in: A Fender baritone. The owner wanted it set up and wanted to know whether the guitar and its parts were the real thing. What we found: With the neck and pickguard off, the parts checked out as genuine Fender. What we did: Removed the neck and pickguard, checked the parts and found them genuine. Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Setups

A standard setup is $79. Deluxe is $109 and is the one we usually recommend. Specialty setups are $99, which covers Floyd Rose, twelve-string, and classical. Repair Work

Fret leveling and dressing, refrets, nut replacement, saddle work, tuner replacement, electronics work, bridge reglues, crack repair. Climate

Upstate winters drop indoor humidity fast. Acoustics feel it. Tops sink, fret ends feel sharp, action shifts. Most of that is fixable with a setup. Structural work is a bigger conversation and we diagnose it at intake.

The Eastern County Drive

If you're in Granville, Whitehall, or Cambridge, the drive is real. Thirty to forty minutes each way. Worth planning a Glens Falls trip around the drop-off.
