Guitar Accessories Near Lake George, NY

Guitar accessories near Lake George: Paul's Guitar Hideout is about 10 minutes south of Lake George village. Capos from Dunlop, Ernie Ball, and Martin, $17.99 to $31.49. As of November 6, 2026, 36 straps are on the wall from Ernie Ball, Fender, and Martin, $8.99 to $79.99, in leather, suede, nylon, and cotton. Strings, picks, and cables each get their own page: strings, picks, cables.

Route 9 south out of the village, ten minutes into Glens Falls. The Shirt Factory is on the left as you come into downtown, Cooper Street entrance.

The Drive

Lake George is the village at the south end of the lake, a summer town of about a thousand people the rest of the year, and the first place inside the Adirondack Park north of Queensbury.

About 10 minutes south on Route 9 or I-87 (Exit 18). Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory.

From the Wall: Martin Acoustic Guitar Humidifier

Non-vinyl, non-allergenic resin tube with a water-absorbing stem. For acoustic guitars, soundhole mount. We carry the Martin Acoustic Guitar Humidifier at $14.99.

Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Capos We Stock

The front room at Paul's Guitar Hideout in Glens Falls, NY: strings, cables and picks on the slatwall, pedals in the glass counter, and a leather couch under framed band posters

Dunlop, Ernie Ball, and Martin. A capo that clamps unevenly pulls the strings out of tune the moment you put it on, so it's worth trying one on your own guitar. Bring it in and test before you buy.

Banjo Players

A regular capo handles the first four strings. For the fifth, we install railroad spikes at the frets you choose, $49. Details on the repair and setup pricing page.

Straps We Stock

Ernie Ball, Fender, and Martin: nylon and cotton at the everyday end, suede and full leather at the top. A strap is the one accessory you should try on with your own guitar, because a heavy guitar on a thin strap and a light guitar on a wide leather one both feel wrong within a set. Bring the guitar and put it on your shoulder.

Strap Buttons and Locks

Acoustics that came without a second strap button, buttons that have worked loose, or a switch to strap locks: we handle all three at the shop. Strap-button or strap-lock install is $39. Doweling and re-drilling a loose button is $59. Both are on the repair and setup pricing page. Service is first come, first served. Need it back by a certain date? Let us know at drop-off and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far is Paul's Guitar Hideout from Lake George?
A: About 10 minutes south on Route 9 or I-87. We're at 71 Lawrence St. inside The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, second floor.

Q: Does a capo work on a 12-string or a classical?
A: It can, but a wider, stronger capo helps. Bring the guitar in and we'll fit one.

Q: Why does my guitar go out of tune when I put a capo on?
A: Usually the capo clamps too hard or sits crooked, pulling strings sideways. Place it just behind the fret and use only the tension you need.

Q: Can you put a strap button on my acoustic?
A: Yes. Strap-button install is $39, and we place it where the balance works for your guitar.

Q: Leather or nylon?
A: Leather and suede grip the shoulder and stay put; nylon is lighter and cheaper. For a heavy electric played standing, wider and grippier wins. Try both on your guitar here.
