Bass strings near Lake George: Paul's Guitar Hideout is about 15 minutes south of Lake George village, open Wednesday–Sunday, 12–5 PM. In September 2026 we have nine bass sets on the wall from D'Addario and Ernie Ball, $21.99 to $49.99: four- and five-string sets in short, long and super long scale. A bass restring is $25 plus the strings.

From the Wall: D'Addario EXL170-5

The EXL170-5 takes 45-100, the gauge D'Addario calls its most popular for bass, and adds a .130 low B, for long-scale five-string basses. It's XL Nickel, nickel-plated steel wrap over a high-carbon steel core, roundwound. D'Addario's tension chart puts the low B at 32.1 lbs and the G at 42.5. On the wall at $28.99: D'Addario EXL170-5. Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Restrings and Setups

A bass restring is $25 plus the strings. Strings and parts are always extra, and you're welcome to bring your own. Service is first come, first served. Need it back by a certain date? Let us know at drop-off and we'll do our best to accommodate. A standard setup is $79 and a deluxe setup is $109, for electric, acoustic, or bass, strings extra. The Drive

Lake George is the village at the south end of the lake, a summer town of about a thousand people the rest of the year, and the first place inside the Adirondack Park north of Queensbury.

About 15 minutes south on Route 9 or I-87 (Exit 18). Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory.
