Tortex, Gauge by Gauge

Tortex is Dunlop's treated Delrin, introduced in 1981 to replace tortoiseshell: a matte surface that holds onto the fingers, a bright attack, and an edge that keeps its shape. The gauges on our wall in the standard shape, twelve to a pack: .50 is the thin strummer's pick, .60 light-medium for acoustic strumming, .73 in the middle of the range, .88 medium-heavy for single notes, 1.0 the lead player's pick with no flex, and 1.14 the stiffest, for hard picking and for bass.

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.
