Guitar Setup in Warren County, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is in Glens Falls, at the southern edge of Warren County. $79 standard, $109 deluxe, $99 specialty (Floyd Rose, 12-string, classical). Drop off during shop hours, no appointment. Our repair work is documented publicly in the Repair Vault.

Glens Falls is the county's southeast corner. Lake George is ten minutes, Warrensburg twenty, Chestertown about thirty, North Creek about forty-five. Everything in the county is under an hour.

The Drive

Warren County is one city, eleven towns and a lot of forest: Glens Falls in the southeast corner, Queensbury with the county offices, then Lake George, Warrensburg, Bolton and the rest of the park going north.

Glens Falls sits at the southern edge of the county. From Lake George it's about 10 minutes; from Warrensburg about 20; from Bolton Landing about 30. Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory. Drop-off takes a few minutes. We look at the guitar with you and confirm standard or specialty.

From Our Setup Work: Martin 000-15: Deluxe Setup for High Action

What came in: A Martin 000-15, the all-mahogany one, in for a deluxe setup. What we found: The action was high. What we did: Tightened the truss rod, lowered the saddle, cleaned the guitar up and put on a fresh set of Martin Lifespan 2.0 12s. Result: Plays much better with the lower action. Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

What a Setup Includes

Truss rod to correct relief. Nut slots checked and filed if high. Saddle action dialed to your preference. Intonation verified at the 12th fret. Fresh strings installed (strings are extra). For more on what a setup covers and why, read what a guitar setup includes and why it matters.

Service is first come, first served. Need it back by a certain date? Let us know at drop-off and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Standard, Deluxe, or Specialty

Standard, $79: Most electrics, most acoustics, most basses. Full setup; strings are extra.

Deluxe, $109: Everything in the standard plus headstock-to-strap-button detailing, all hardware tightened and lubricated, and the fretboard cleaned and conditioned. The one we usually recommend.

Specialty, $99: Floyd Rose and other double-locking tremolos, 12-strings, classicals. The extra covers the additional setup time these instruments need.
