Guitar Repair in Warren County, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout runs a full-service guitar repair bench in Glens Falls, at the southern edge of Warren County, no appointment needed. The bench's work is documented publicly in the Repair Vault: real repairs, what came in, what we found, what we did. Setups are $79 standard, $109 deluxe and $99 specialty, strings extra; a full fret level is $299, a bone nut or saddle $179, and electronics diagnosis $69 an hour.

Glens Falls is the county's southeast corner. Lake George is ten minutes, Warrensburg twenty, Chestertown about thirty, North Creek about forty-five. Everything in the county is under an hour.

Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

Warren County is one city, eleven towns and a lot of forest: Glens Falls in the southeast corner, Queensbury with the county offices, then Lake George, Warrensburg, Bolton and the rest of the park going north.

What came in: The owner had the guitar for a while and wanted it checked out and set up before playing it again. What we found: The setup itself was routine. What we did: Set the guitar up and made sure everything worked as it should. Result: Set up nicely. The fret edges are still sharp: the owner declined the dress for now, hoping summer humidity would improve the feel. Setups: The Baseline

A standard setup is $79. Deluxe is $109 and is the one we usually recommend. Specialty setups (Floyd Rose, 12-string, classical) are $99. A setup is the answer to most "why does my guitar feel weird" questions: action shifted, neck moved, intonation drifted. There's more in what a setup includes and why it matters.

Repair Work

Fret leveling, dressing, and refrets. Nut and saddle replacement. Tuner replacement. Electronics: pickups, pots, jacks, wiring. Bridge reglue and reset. Crack repair. Structural work on acoustics. Warren County Climate

We see the seasons before the calendar does. January and February bring acoustics with cracked tops and sharp fret ends from heated indoor air without a humidifier. July and August bring the opposite: high humidity, action climbing, necks feeling sluggish. A humidifier and a case prevent most of what we see.
