Guitar Setup Near Wilton, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is about 20 minutes north of Wilton on I-87, in Glens Falls. $79 standard, $109 deluxe, $99 specialty (Floyd Rose, 12-string, classical). Drop off during shop hours, no appointment. Our repair work is documented publicly in the Repair Vault.

Northway north, Exit 16 to Exit 18, about twenty minutes. No stoplights until you're in Glens Falls.

The Drive

Wilton is the town north of Saratoga where the shopping is: the mall and the big stores off Exit 15, Route 9 and the Northway running parallel, and a lot of newer neighborhoods on the flat ground along the river.

About 20 minutes north on I-87, Exit 16 to Exit 18. Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory. Drop-off takes a few minutes. We look at the guitar with you and confirm standard or specialty.

What came in: An LTD with a Floyd Rose. What we found: Everything about the setup was for a different tuning and gauge. What we did: Changed the strings from 10s to 9s and tuned to C# standard. Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

What a Setup Includes

Truss rod to correct relief. Nut slots checked and filed if high. Saddle action dialed to your preference. Intonation verified at the 12th fret. Fresh strings installed (strings are extra). For more on what a setup covers and why, read what a guitar setup includes and why it matters.

Service is first come, first served. Need it back by a certain date? Let us know at drop-off and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Standard, Deluxe, or Specialty

Standard, $79: Most electrics, most acoustics, most basses. Full setup; strings are extra.

Deluxe, $109: Everything in the standard plus headstock-to-strap-button detailing, all hardware tightened and lubricated, and the fretboard cleaned and conditioned. The one we usually recommend.

Specialty, $99: Floyd Rose and other double-locking tremolos, 12-strings, classicals. The extra covers the additional setup time these instruments need.
