Strymon El Capistan dTape Echo V1 - Gunmetal Gray

This is the first El Capistan, the original version of Strymon's digital tape echo. Strymon has since replaced it with the V2, which keeps the same tape echo sounds and adds MIDI, USB-C and a mono or stereo input switch. It's three tape machines in one, each with three modes.
The Tape Head switch picks the machine. On fixed, Time sets the tape speed and Mode picks one of three playback heads. On multi, two of the three heads play at once. On single, the tape speed stays put and Time slides the record head. Mode C on single is Sound on Sound, a tape-style looper: Tap sets the two splice points and a third press erases the tape. Tape Age darkens the repeats the way a worn tape loses bandwidth. Wow & Flutter sets the tape speed wobble: all the way down is a cleaned and serviced machine, all the way up is one that needs service. Hold Tap for infinite repeats. Hold Bypass and Tap together and the knobs set spring reverb, tape crinkle, tape bias, low end contour and a 3 dB boost or cut. It has stereo outputs and an expression jack, bypass is true bypass by relay or analog buffered with trails, and it runs on 9 volts DC, center negative, at least 250 mA.
