The VB-2W is the Waza Craft version of the VB-2 Vibrato, a 1982 Boss pedal that's rare on the vintage market now. It's true pitch-shifting vibrato from an all-analog circuit built around a BBD (bucket brigade) chip.
The S/C switch picks the voice: S is the original VB-2 sound, C is a newer Custom mode with stronger modulation and a different frequency response. Rate sets the speed, Depth sets the amount, and Rise Time sets how long the vibrato takes to reach full depth. The Mode knob sets how the footswitch works: Latch is normal on and off, Unlatch gives you vibrato only while you hold the switch down, and Bypass takes the BBD out of the signal when the effect is off.

Questions
Does it run on a battery?
Yes. It takes a 9V battery, and one comes in the box: about 22 hours on an alkaline. It also runs on a Boss PSA-series adaptor, sold separately, and draws 35 mA.
What do the S/C switch and the Mode knob do?
S is the original VB-2 tone and C is Boss's Custom tone with stronger modulation. The Mode knob sets the footswitch to Latch (on and off), Unlatch (vibrato only while you hold it down) or Bypass (the BBD comes out of the signal when the effect is off).
Can I use an expression pedal with it?
Yes. The Depth jack takes a Boss FV-500H, FV-500L or Roland EV-5, sold separately, and the pedal then controls the vibrato depth. The other jacks are a 1/4-inch input and output and a DC jack.
