Ukuleles Near Clifton Park, NY
Ukuleles near Clifton Park: Paul's Guitar Hideout is about 40 minutes north of Clifton Park on I-87. Six Fender ukuleles on the wall, soprano through tenor, starting at $115.99, plus D'Addario Nyltech string sets for every size.
Exit 9 to Exit 18, about forty minutes, all Northway. It's a long enough drive that people bring the guitar with them instead of describing it over the phone, which is the right call: we can't quote a setup or a trade on something we haven't seen.
Where We Are
We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, one of the more interesting buildings in the region. It's a converted 1902 shirt mill that's become a hub for artists, makers, craftspeople, and independent businesses. Painters, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers, and now a guitar shop. The building has a creative energy that fits what we do. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.
Ukuleles We Stock
All six are Fender, and they cover the three sizes most players want: soprano, concert, and tenor. The Venice soprano is the smallest and the least expensive at $115.99. The Avalon tenor has the longest scale and the most room between frets, which suits anyone coming over from guitar. The Zuma concert sits between them. The Fullerton Tele and Jazzmaster are concert-scale ukuleles built to look like their electric namesakes, and they have a pickup so they can be plugged in.
Prices start at $115.99. Every one of them is on the floor to play before you buy.
Which Size to Start On
Soprano is the traditional size and the sound most people picture when they hear the word ukulele. Concert is a little bigger with more space between frets. Tenor is bigger again, and it is the size we point guitar players toward, because the neck feels less cramped to a hand used to six strings.
For a child, soprano. For an adult starting fresh, concert. For a guitar player adding one, tenor.
Strings and Restrings
D'Addario Nyltech sets on the wall for soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone, $8.99 to $9.99. If you would rather not do the job yourself, a ukulele restring is $25 plus strings. Full pricing is on the repair and setup pricing page.
The Drive
About 40 minutes north on I-87, Exit 9 to Exit 18. Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory.
