The 000-18 is the singer-songwriter's Martin: spruce top over mahogany back and sides, the 14-fret 000 body, smaller than a dreadnought and built around how a guitar sits in front of a vocal mic. David Crosby, Mark Knopfler, Bert Jansch, Pat Donohue, and Tommy Emmanuel have all built parts of their playing around the 000-18. Select hardwood neck with the GE Modified Low Oval profile, ebony fingerboard and bridge with Old Style 18 abalone inlays, 1 3/4" bone nut, 24.9" short scale. GE-scalloped X-bracing borrowed from the Modern Deluxe line in the 2025 refresh.
Where the rosewood 000-28 opens up and shimmers, the 000-18's mahogany back and sides keep it focused and punchy in the midrange — clarity that translates straight to a vocal mic without crowding the voice. The 14-fret 000 is the size most fingerstyle players settle on once they've tried a few. A working guitar that doesn't ask to be the center of attention.
