Guitar Lessons Near Warrensburg, NY

Paul's Guitar Hideout is about 20 minutes south of Warrensburg on I-87, in Glens Falls. One-on-one guitar lessons with Travis Gray of Wild Adriatic, taught in person at the shop. Beginners, kids, and players coming back to it. Lessons run 30 minutes for $40 or 60 minutes for $80. Lessons cover acoustic and electric guitar across all styles. Twenty minutes south, Exit 23 to Exit 18. The World's Largest Garage Sale takes over Main Street the first weekend of October (this year it's October 2–4), and every year a few guitars come out of it needing strings, a setup, or a nut. Bring it down; we're on the way home.

The Drive

Warrensburg is the middle of Warren County, a one-main-street town where the Schroon comes into the Hudson, with the Northway on its east side and the park all around it.

About 20 minutes south on I-87, Exit 23 to Exit 18. Park in the Cooper Street lot at The Shirt Factory.

Where We Are

We're on the second floor of The Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. The building went up in 1902 as a men's shirt factory and made shirts until 1996. Today it's home to more than 70 studios, shops and galleries, and now a guitar shop. Use the Cooper Street entrance and take the stairs up. If stairs are difficult or you're bringing in something you don't want to carry up, call or text us and we'll arrange access.

How Lessons Work

Travis listens to what you want and builds a plan for it. He'll work on the songs you actually want to play, the foundation underneath them, technique, riffs, songwriting, or getting ready to perform, whatever the goal is. The first session is about where you're starting and where you want to go.

Younger Beginners

For a younger beginner: we offer 3/4-size electrics and smaller-body acoustics that fit hands and arms still growing into a full-size guitar. A full-size guitar can also be appropriate depending on the player. Bringing the beginner in is the best way to figure out which way to go.

Before the First Lesson

If you need a guitar, new and used inventory is worth browsing while you're up. It's often worth dropping your existing guitar off on the same trip for a $79 setup, because a guitar that fights you slows the learning down. Service is first come, first served. Styles

Lessons are built around the student rather than a fixed curriculum. Rock, folk, pop, songwriting, improvisation, and other styles can all be part of the lesson depending on what you want to play.
