An LTD EC1000 in purple came in for a setup and a string gauge change from 11s down to 10s.
What Came In
An LTD EC1000 in a purple finish. The owner wanted to move from 11s to 10s and have the guitar set up to the lighter strings.
What We Found
Dropping to 10s pulled the guitar out of spec. The truss rod, bridge height, and intonation all needed resetting for the lighter tension. The nut was uneven and the pickup height was off.
What We Did
Set the truss rod for the new tension and filed the nut even. Set bridge height and intonation, then set the pickups to the new string height. About 50 minutes on the bench.
Result
A clean playing EC1000 dialed in for 10s.
Worth Knowing
A gauge change is a setup, not just a string swap, and that holds whether you go heavier or lighter. Moving from 11s to 10s drops string tension, so the neck relief, bridge height, and intonation all shift and need to be reset.
Lighter strings can feel slinky and easy right away, but the guitar still needs the full pass to play in tune up the neck.
Bring It In
Thinking about changing string gauge? Bring it in. Standard setup is $79 and we'll get it back in your hands as soon as possible.
