A Godin came in for a cleaning, a setup, and a string gauge change from 9s to 10s.
What Came In
A Godin electric. The owner wanted to move from 9s to 10s and have the guitar cleaned and set up to the heavier strings.
What We Found
The electronics were scratchy and needed cleaning. Going up to 10s pulled the guitar out of spec, so the truss rod, saddle height, intonation, and pickup height all needed resetting.
What We Did
Cleaned out the electronics. Set the truss rod and saddle height, dialed in the intonation for the heavier gauge, and brought the pickups to the right height. About 50 minutes on the bench.
Result
A nice playing Godin, quiet again and dialed in for 10s.
Worth Knowing
Scratchy pots and switches are almost always dirt, not failure, so a cleaning usually brings them back before anything needs replacing.
A gauge change is a setup, not just a string swap. Move from 9s to 10s and the added tension shifts relief, saddle height, and intonation, so the guitar needs a full pass to play in tune.
Bring It In
Thinking about heavier strings, or fighting scratchy electronics? Bring it in. Standard setup is $79 and we'll get it back in your hands as soon as possible.
