An LTD EC1000 with a burl top came in for a cleaning and a full setup.
What Came In
An LTD EC1000, the burl-top version. It came in for a cleaning and a setup.
What We Found
The guitar needed a cleaning. The truss rod, bridge height, and intonation were all out. The nut was cut unevenly, and the pickups were sitting too low.
What We Did
Cleaned the guitar. Set the truss rod and filed the nut level. Set the bridge height and intonation, then raised the pickups to match. About 50 minutes on the bench.
Result
Cleaner and better playing than it came in.
Worth Knowing
An uneven nut shows up as some strings sitting high while others buzz, because each slot is cut to its own depth. Filing the slots level is fussy work, but it is what makes the first few frets play in tune and feel even under the hand.
Pickups set too low cost you output and a little clarity, so raising them to spec is an easy win on a lot of setups.
Bring It In
