This is the SansAmp Acoustic DI, Tech 21's direct box and preamp for acoustic guitar. It's in Tech 21's product archive now, not their current lineup. The tube and microphone emulation takes out the harsh, unnatural sound of a piezo pickup and gives the guitar the warmth of a miked acoustic, and Blend mixes it with the straight signal. The label on the bottom reads Made in U.S.A., serial 201404.
Bass and Treble cut or boost 12 dB from noon. Mid Shift sets where the Mid knob works, from 170 Hz to 3 kHz, and Tech 21's fix for feedback is to boost Mid, turn Mid Shift to where it feeds back, then cut Mid until it stops. With the Active switch off and the LED dark, it's a plain transparent direct box. The XLR output has a -20 dB pad for a mic input and takes the mixer's phantom power when the Phantom and Ground Connect switch is on; switched off, the ground is lifted. The 1/4 inch output feeds an amp, and the Input to XLR jack goes straight to the XLR or works as an effect return with the 1/4 inch output as the send. Inputs are on the right end, outputs and power on the left. It also runs on a 9-volt battery or a 9-volt DC adapter, center negative, and plugging into the input switches the battery on.
