The JC-40 is the Jazz Chorus clean sound, the one the JC-120 has carried for more than 50 years, in a two-by-ten combo sized for a gig. That clean stays neutral, which is why pedal players use it to hear exactly what their pedals are doing.
Two independent power amps drive the two 10-inch speakers in stereo, and the front panel takes a stereo input, so a modeler, a multi-effects unit or a pair of stereo pedals comes through wide without a second amp. Roland's Dimensional Space Chorus runs in fixed or manual mode, with vibrato, reverb and distortion on board, each switchable from an optional footswitch. Around back: a stereo effects loop, series or parallel, stereo line outs and a headphone jack. About 34 pounds 14 ounces.

Questions
Can I run stereo effects into it?
Yes. The front panel has a stereo input, L/Mono and R, so a modeler, a multi-effects unit or a pair of stereo pedals plays through both speakers without a second amp.
Can I practice on headphones?
Yes, there is a stereo 1/4-inch headphone jack. Roland notes the headphone signal is not true stereo; it is voiced to sound like the two speakers heard from in front of the amp.
Which footswitch does it take?
A Boss FS-5L, FS-6 or FS-7, sold separately. The footswitch jacks turn chorus/vibrato, reverb and distortion on and off.
