This is the Double Dragon Lo-Fi Octave Device, an all-analog, monophonic octave down and octave up. JHS calls it the first octave device in its history: it had done octave fuzz, but this is its first sub-octave circuit. It's built on the same old analog octave-divider technology behind the MXR Blue Box and the Boss OC-2. The label underneath reads Designed and Built in Kansas City USA.
The lower octave is the thick foundation, and the upper one is an octave-up distortion that JHS puts somewhere between an Octavia and a Superfuzz. Play single notes for riffs; play a chord and the circuit stutters and jumps. Oct- sets the sub-octave level, Oct+ sets the octave up and its distortion, Dry blends in your clean signal (all the way down is fully wet), and Volume sets the output, with extra boost available. The left footswitch turns it on and off, and the right one adds the Oct+ circuit, which only works with the effect on. With the octaves turned off and Dry all the way up, JHS says it works as an always-on preamp. The jacks and the power jack are on the top end, bypass is buffered, and it runs on 9 volts DC, center negative, at 75 mA.
