This is the original Fulltone PlimSoul, the one before the mkII, with the silver knob panel and the jacks on the sides. It has two stages of clipping: Sustain sets a soft-clipped stage, and the little Stage 2 knob rolls in a hard-clipped stage, so you can blend the two or run either one alone. The label on the bottom reads Hand-Built in the USA, Fulltone Musical Products, Culver City, serial 09262.
Level sets the output, with about 30 dB of gain on tap. On its own, Sustain is the softer, more compressed sound. Stage 2 adds a tighter, more percussive clipping, and the LED above that knob glows brighter the higher you set it. Hi-Cut only works on the highs and is about neutral from 3 o'clock up. Fulltone says it cleans up when you roll the guitar's volume down. The input is on the right side, the output and the power jack on the left, and it runs on a 9-volt battery or a 9 to 18 volt DC adapter, center negative. The battery hatch on the bottom opens with the thumbscrew on the back end. Switching is true bypass.
