This is Chase Tone's Secret Preamp, a replica of the preamp inside the solid-state Maestro Echoplex EP-3 of the 1970s, the part that changed a guitar's tone even with the echo off. The top reads Built in the USA.

Volume is wired like an original EP-3: all the way down is silent, 10 to 11 o'clock is about unity depending on the EQ, and 1 to 2 o'clock is the most boost, 3 dB or a little more. The toggle picks the EQ: Bright for an early-'70s EP-3, Dark for a late-'70s one, Mid for a mix of the two. Chase Tone puts it last in the chain. Both jacks and the power jack are on the top end. It takes 9 volts DC only, center negative, at least 150 mA, and steps that up inside to run at 22 volts like the EP-3. Switching is true bypass.

Gray hammertone. Excellent condition, shown in the photos. Comes with just the pedal, no box.

Includes: The pedal only, no box
