A Schecter seven-string came in with the action too high and buzzing anyway. The truss rod and saddle heights were both off, which is how a guitar can be high and buzzy at the same time. Truss rod, saddles and intonation set in an hour and a quarter.

What Came In
A Schecter seven-string with a blue-green quilted top, in for a setup. The action was high and it buzzed.
What We Found
The truss rod and the saddle heights were all off. In Dave's reading, that combination was causing the buzz even with the action set high.
What We Did
Adjusted the truss rod, set the saddle heights and set the intonation. About an hour and a quarter on the bench.

Result
Plays much better and does not buzz now.
How can a guitar have high action and still buzz?
Action is measured at the twelfth fret, but a buzz can live anywhere. Too much or too little bow in the neck puts frets in the string's path somewhere else along it, and saddles set at the wrong heights do the same string by string. Raising the action does not fix either. Setting the relief and the saddles does.
