The most common question we get is how long a guitar repair takes — and the honest answer is: it depends on the repair and our current backlog. At Paul's Guitar Hideout in Glens Falls, repairs are done in the order they come in, as fast as the work allows.

Some repairs can be turned around quickly once they're on the bench. Others take longer depending on the work.

How we schedule repairs

We work first-come, first-served. There's no appointment queue, your guitar goes in the order it arrives. Turnaround depends on our current backlog, which changes week to week. We'll give you an honest estimate when you bring it in.

What affects how long it takes

The repair itself is the main factor. Some jobs are straightforward once the guitar is on the bench. Others require parts, drying time, or more involved work. A repair that needs a part we don't have in stock takes longer than one we can start immediately. A glue joint needs time to cure — rushing it is how repairs fail.

We've had guitars come in for a simple setup and found a cracked brace that needed to dry for two days before we could touch anything else. The timeline is honest, not padded.

More involved work

Some repairs take more time by nature, structural issues, electronics work, or anything that requires ordering parts. These are quoted individually before any work starts, and we'll give you a realistic timeline as part of that conversation.

If you have a deadline

If you need the guitar back by a specific date — before a gig, before a trip — mention it when you reach out. We'll let you know if it's realistic before anything is scheduled.

Not sure if you need a repair or a setup? See Do I Need a Guitar Setup? for the common signs.

Bring it in and we'll look at it with you — price and timeline quoted before anything is touched. If anything extra comes up, we tell you first.

We work on guitars from Glens Falls, Queensbury, Lake George, Saratoga Springs, Warren County, Washington County, and across the Capital Region.
