The Martin D-X2E Billy Strings signature is the road-warrior version of Billy's pre-war D-28 obsession — same custom 25" scale length and 1 23/32" nut width as his high-end signature, but built around durable Brazilian rosewood-pattern HPL back and sides over a solid Sitka spruce top, so it goes anywhere the gig takes you. Scalloped X-bracing, ebony fingerboard with faux abalone diamond-and-square long inlays, style 28 boltaron rosette, nickel open gear tuners with butterbean knobs, Martin E1 electronics with built-in tuner.
The shorter 25" scale (versus standard 25.4") gives the slack feel Billy uses for fast cross-picking and bluegrass runs, while the 14-fret Dreadnought body delivers the booming projection that defines his sound. HPL construction takes the temperature and humidity swings of touring without complaint. Each guitar ships with a custom paper label carrying Billy's pre-printed signature and graphic.
