Martin 000-17E - 17 Series - Black Smoke

The 000-17E Black Smoke is Martin's vintage-styled 14-fret 000, finished head-to-toe in stained black satin. Solid spruce top with the smoke finish over it, mahogany back and sides also in black, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, antique white binding, ivoroid pickguard, aged nickel tuners. Select hardwood neck with the Modified Low Oval profile and High-Performance Taper, 1 3/4" bone nut, 24.9" short scale, scalloped X-bracing. Onboard Fishman electronics for plug-in use.

The Black Smoke finish is for players who want a Martin that doesn't look like a Martin: moody, modern, easier to commit to onstage than a varnished natural top. Spruce over mahogany puts it in the same tonewood family as the D-18 and 000-18 — focused and midrange-forward, in a smaller body that translates straight to a PA without getting muddy.
