On its own, Sustain is the softer, more compressed sound. Stage 2 adds a tighter, more percussive clipping, and the LED above that knob glows brighter the higher you set it. Hi-Cut only works on the highs and is about neutral from 3 o'clock up. Fulltone says it cleans up when you roll the guitar's volume down. The input is on the right side, the output and the power jack on the left, and it runs on a 9-volt battery or a 9 to 18 volt DC adapter, center negative.
